Appointments

What sort of appointment do you need ...

Same day appointment

Most appointments are reserved and bookable only "on the day". If you ring at 8am on the day you wish to be seen, you can usually secure one of these morning or afternoon appointments. The earlier you ring, the more choice you'll have. Please specify if you prefer a particular doctor.

Your appointment is for 10 minutes. If you have complex or multiple problems and feel you may need longer, please request a "double" 20 minute appointment.

Sometime in the future

If you know you need to be seen sometime in the future and there's no rush, or if you need a very specific time to fit in with your life, appointments can be pre-booked 3-4 weeks in advance with a doctor or 5 weeks with a nurse.

Feel free to request a specific doctor. You may also request a "double" appointment for complex or multiple problems.

Telephone consultation

Ask for a telephone consultation if you need to discuss something with your doctor but feel that you don't necessarily need to be seen face-to-face.

Many issues can be sorted over the phone in this way, such as medication queries or sick note requests.

Please note that, with the exception of urinary infections, it is unusual to be able to prescribe antibiotics over the phone.

Home visits

If your medical problems prevent you from leaving the house, you may request a home visit. Patients will often receive a phone call from the doctor first to assess your request. Please try to ring before 11am if you require a visit.

Urgent problems

We will always assess urgent medical problems the same day. If all our appointments have been taken, you will usually receive a telephone call from the doctor first to assess whether you need an appointment, visit, or advice.
